I’ve made some time to paddle my kayak around Ireland, something that will take me about 7 weeks to complete. I thought it would be good to use the opportunity to try to raise some money for a few charities, so I’ve picked three that mean something to me. Your donations through Mydonate with be shared equally with St Christopher’s Hospice and the RNLI. Donations through iDonate will be shared equally with The Hope Foundation and the RNLI. You’re not paying for my trip!
St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality. They did a fantastic job of looking after my mother, so I’d like to continue to support their work.
My wife, Jo, has been sponsoring a little girl in Calcutta through The Hope Foundation for many years now and has been impressed with what she sees. The Hope Foundation works primarily with the street & slum children of Kolkata (Calcutta) where there’s estimated to be a population of over 250,000. HOPE is currently reaching out to almost 25,000 street children through education alone and hundreds of thousands more through primary healthcare, in partnership with Irish Aid.
The RNLI needs no introduction. I hope that I never need their services, but as a sea kayaker I’m glad they’re there!
